7.00 (above average) Very simple art, yet fitting to the anime, good animations and nice plot. The characters, even the secondary ones, are unforgettable! Dynamic fights, without so much blood, and lots of laughs. I didn't really like the endings, but the soundtracks are ok. In the second part (from about the twenty-fifth episode onwards) everything become slower and the entertainment falls down to a very disappointing end.

CRONA: "Having faith in other people? Trusting someone not to hurt you? How idiotic is that?"

6.50 (above average) Nice but too loooong. Somewhere in the middle I've lost the thread! Many things happen all together, and 'till there's an explanation... I've forgotten how everything has begun!

6.50 (above average) Nice characters and nice story, even if I didn't understand much 'till I read the plot... it's a little complicated! This is the only Gundam series I've seen so far, so I cannot make comparisons, but I think the design is better than the others.

DUO MARXWELL: "Oh, man! Quatre loves to blame himself for everything if you let him. Sooner or later, he’ll start saying that there’s no air in space because he didn’t work on it hard enough!"

6.50 (above average) What if there's someone who can send your enemies to hell at the cost of your soul? Would you take revenge of someone you hate?
Original idea, but, since it's episodic, is quite repetitive.

6.50 (above average) Romantic series with quite a bit of comedy. Misaki is a nice character, with a strong personality (even if she's too slow in admitting her feelings) and I liked Usui too, but I don't usually prefer guys that look too perfect, they tend to have dark shadows in the past.

USUI TAKUMI: "I don’t want others to hear… the words that I’ve been waiting anxiously for. I want to be the only one to hear it."

6.50 (above average) The first season was almost pretty, but the second one... NERVE-WRACKING! I don't think a character as stupid, annoying and mindless as Sawako has ever been created in the history of Japanese animation! Yet the other characters are all so nice.. But how can she always misinterpret every word that someone says, blind to the evidence that even a blind would see, and build sand castles on it for days? One should have lived all his life at the North Pole without the slightest contact with a human being to end up with the communication problems she has, not even an angle of 179° is so obtuse!

SAWAKO KURONUMA: "When I told him my feelings, he understood. When I said I wasn’t lying, he believed me."

6.50 (above average) Episodic anime are a bit tiring, but I liked very much the idea of this one: powerful cards that create havoc in the city are to be caught by the girl who released them, helped by a cute speaking peluche! It's a bit childish, 'cause the characters are children for the most, but is very enjoyable. I didn't like the second series as the first one.

SAKURA KINOMOTO: "You really loved Mr. Clow, didn’t you? It hurts, doesn’t it? It hurts to lose someone you love.."

6.25 (average) Mystery, with a bizarre protagonist and a plot that is a bit pretentious, where some good stories get lost, wasted in unnecessary frills, with characters not interesting at all. It gets particularly on my nerves Kujo that goes around the whole academy screaming “Victorika!” (because that is how the french Victorique is read, apparently) at least ten times in each episode. And, of course, Victorique is strange, as the duty of every self-respecting hero. Even the setting is not that good: the academy is very cold and all the buildings are excessively large and isolated in the midst of huge empty meadows. I was not particularly impressed with the musics, and in general, saving some parts of the plot quite interesting, everything is pretty mediocre.

VICTORIQUE DE BLOIS: “If you’re a gentleman, maybe I’m a goddess.”

Dragon Ball

Last Updated: Jun 16, 2016

6.00 (average) The beginning of the story is quite enjoyable. The plot is well articulated and many things prevent it from being boring. We not only have battle, but also friendship, trainings, funny moments, and many interesting secondary characters.
Dragon Ball Z is focused above all on battles. I really hate the fact that people revive so easily, that every battle lasts for weeks, that the enemies follow each other as in a climax, from the weakest to the strongest and they always target our Earth. This series always follows the same repetitive scheme, and the characters - Goku above all - seem to have no feelings: they only think about training and fighting, they only live for this. Also the fact that the dragon balls can grant any wish diminishes every event: why do you have to be sad about someone's death or the Earth exploding into a thousand pieces? In the end it comes down to nothing, everything returns to normality in two seconds and nothing changes.
I didn't like the third season at all: a useless addition.

VEGETA: "Goku! I’d rather die than fuse with you!"
GOKU: "But, Vegeta… we’re already dead!"

6.00 (average) Nice. Miharu is an interesting character, with his indifferent attitude, but the plot is quite slow, studded with empty spaces. The end is disappointing, makes you say "much ado about nothing".

YOITE: "The more men are close to each other the more they got injured. Why do people continue to look for others after all?"

6.00 (average) I've never seen a corpse in my life and this brat is always involved in crime scenes, wherever he goes... I can't believe it! However, nice detective-anime with countless cases, everyone different from the others, even if it's toooo long! The main story develops at the same speed of a snail's walk.

6.00 (average) One of the first anime of my childhood. Nice for its time. The protagonist is a girl who can magically transform herself into a beautiful woman who becomes a famous singer. All the characters are very pleasant and everyone behaves consistently: childs act like childs, the stars are jealous of others' fame and everyone loves Creamy, of course. The songs are very nice, most of the episodes is an end in itself but there's a story, and even the end is coherent with the sequence of events, with no loophole.

PINO PINO: Thank you! You helped us a great deal. You showed us the way. There has been a bad dream storm and I lost the way to Feather Star, but you helped us find it again.

6.00 (average) Intense and melancholic, nicely drawn. An anime where basically nothing happens, there's only a flood of emotions and sensations, underlined by many silences. It left me very sad...

TAKAKI TONO: "Do you know? The speed at which cherry blossoms fall… 5 centimeters per second. At what speed must I live… to be able to see you again?"

Lupin III

Last Updated: Jun 29, 2014

6.00 (average) Episodic anime, very amusing. Arsenio Lupin, a gentleman unerring thief, steals treasures all around the world with his stooges Jigen and Goemon, perpetually chased by the inspector Zenigata. Lupin is irresistible and, despite the many episodes of the series, his thefts are always funny and well-planned. The only villain for whom I feel an unquestioned sympathy! His only weakness is women in general and Fujiko in particular. The fact that she always mocks him annoys me, you'd think he's stupid, 'cause after the hundredth scam a normal person would have learnt not to trust!

INSPECTOR ZENIGATA: "Lupin! Don’t you dare die before I get to arrest you!"

Dantalian no Shoka

6.00 (average) An anime about books and a very special girl named Dalian, who is actually a living gateway to the Mystic Archives of Dantalian, a library that preserves all of the world's forbidden knowledge. The girl is accompanied by lord Huey Disward, the key holder of the library, whose task is to help Dalian sealing the phantom books they found while solving strange mysteries. I found the idea attractive and I liked the relationship there is between Huey and Dalian. She is a great character, inspite of the plot flaws. I didn't found the thread of a story, every episode is independent and doesn't let anything out about a deeper story to be revealed. Maybe something will be clearer in the next series, 'cause it's not over. The last episode was a bolt from the blue, the situation took a strange turn suddenly, without warning. Anyway, a nice anime, except for the opening and the ending: I found them horrible.

HUGH ANTHONY DISWARD: "The creeping darkness answered: “No one has seen the future”"

5.75 (average) This anime doesn't really have an end: 'till the last episode you have the impression that the real story has yet to begun, that all you've seen is just a long prologue. Waiting for a second season.

5.75 (average) Nice concept but wasted. The story is about a mortal game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo in which Akira, the main character, is forced to participate to get rid of a false accusation of murder. The idea of this game is original but the part that Akira takes in it is insignificant. Moreover, many situations are left without explanation, many questions don't have an answer in the end. And, about the end, it leaves you at the most awkward. Damn!

SHIKI: "Every time you look at me with those eyes, I want to conquer you. Slowly, taking my time while doing it..."

5.75 (average) Yaoi, from the same mangaka of Junjou Romantica. Indeed they are very similar, with three couple and too much gays, but I liked this more than JR, maybe because I appreciated the setting in the publishing world. And I liked the main couple, TakanoxOnodera (a part from Onodera's screams "This isn't love!" that conclude most of the episodes... just stupid).

MASAMUNE TAKANO: "Whenever I'm with you, I completely fall apart."

5.75 (average) Keiichiro Tachibana, son of a wealthy family, decided to open a small western-style bakery, aided by a talented pastry chef and two eccentric waiters, with the aim of finding the man who kidnapped him when he was a child. The story revolves around the events of the four characters, while dealing with customers and with their lives.
Nice characters, nice story, but nothing special. I spent almost all the episodes drooling over those wonderful desserts! *.*

NANA

5.50 (average) At first I thought that for once they finally made an anime in which not everything is rose-coloured, not everyone lives happily ever after, characters don't always get what they want even persevering, but in the end I found myself so sad ... The end can pass, but all that melancholy that pervades every episode is too much! Nana is an "adult" anime, in some way, that faces issues unexplored in a very real way, but the main character is, to say the least, intolerable, I've never seen a girl more insignificant and fickle than she is. Like: 'Go where the wind takes you "

NANA KOMATSU: "I am pissed off at your insensitive inability to understand why I'm pissed off in the first place!"

5.50 (average) It's not really an historical anime, it's a parody of World War II with personified nations. If you don't know the story of the war you won't understand well the events that, plus, are not in chronological order.
Despite the flaws in the plot, it's quite enjoyable. The story, after all, it's not the most important thing: this anime is based on its humour and, indeed, it's funny to see all the stereotypes about countries in the world.

ROMANO: "Che palle! Don't play dumb with me, that's my brother's job!"

5.50 (average) I don’t know what to say ... This is the anime that I've loved most of all in my childhood, it’s difficult to give an objective opinion. Setting aside the sentimental value, I cannot avoid to consider the many flaws, starting with the main character a little bit too frivolous, that cannot do anything alone but at the end of each series becomes the savior of humanity, not to mention the inept monsters that follow one another incessantly every episode, who all die in the same way. Situations are boringly repetitive. The first series are much more complete: in addition to the adventures of the five protagonists who fight evil, they focus attention on their friendships, school life and things that soon disappear supplanted by the world's problems.

MICHIRU KAIOH: "I'd risk the world for her, because a world without her isn't worth saving."

5.25 (moderate) A poor work that failed in involving me much, although the idea was interesting: what would happen if vampires decide to come out of hiding and live among men? First, I don't like the heroine Mina, that despite the temper doesn't manage in being incisive, then the story has some unclear points, other foreseen, sometimes seems forced. Apart from Mina the other characters are not well characterized, including Akira, one of the main.

MINA TEPES: "I control every corner of the dark night and even death avoids crossing my path… all for what? What I wanted was something much… much more simple."

Inuyasha

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Dec 16, 2012

5.25 (moderate) Too long and annoying... The story is quite repetitive, most of the episodes seem to be the same, always following the same events. It's also boring always have to deal with the same enemy. I don't particularly like the characters, especially Kagome: she's childish, petulant and always plays the victim and despite her bad character everyone is always on her side. And Inuyasha that never react! Many characters are just stereotypes: the bad guy, the cynical one, the perverted one. Even the humor in the long run doesn't make you laugh anymore. I also don't like the complications in the story, probably introduced to make it more interesting, but they just confuse and create contradictions.

5.00 (moderate) Episodic anime, dealing with a duo of private detectives and bodyguards, Kaori and Ryo Saeba, a famous but perverted marksman that only accepts to help beautiful girls. Every episode is similar to the others, with a case to solve, involving of course a girl, and Ryo that tries to harass her but always fails in his attempt, mashed by the giant hammer of his partner. I found boring to watch it until the end.

5.00 (moderate) The bad copy of Code Geass. So copied that the comparison cannot be avoided, so bad that the comparison is immensely humiliating. The few original things of the story and the few decent characters drown in a plot that is meaningless and confusing from the beginning to the end: the characters' actions are never explained and often seems to be inconsistent, battles are insignificant, without strategy and without a stated goal and in the end there's always the Apocalypse, a hackneyed idea. The only thing worth mentioning is the art, with a wonderful character design and gorgeous scenery.

4.75 (moderate) I watched this one after I heard so much about it... but I didn't like it. To be honest, it seems that all the world is gay. I don't like exaggerations. Why can't they make an anime with both hetero and gay, it's all or nothing? I found some nice moments but they're often diminished with some jokes, which is unnerving, as is the fact that Misaki always denies his feelings until the end, struggling and eventually surrendering to Usami. Always the same scene.

4.75 (moderate) This anime doesn't have a story, it's just a long presentation of characters (twelve boys, each representing a zodiacal sign) that ultimately do nothing. The girl, who is meant to be the main character, is completely useless and each episode focuses on a different boy without dealing about the relationship he has with her. The few things that happen are left open. It's a pity, with such a beautiful cast they could have done much better.
